The Collection

A new contemporary art museum opens in Mantua: the Sonnabend Collection Mantova, located in the heart of the city at Palazzo della Ragione. This permanent collection brings to life the visionary legacy of art patron Ileana Sonnabend through eleven exhibition spaces that trace her groundbreaking journey, showcasing iconic masterpieces of American art — such as Figure 8 by Jasper Johns (1958), Little Aloha by Roy Lichtenstein (1962), Campbell’s Soup by Andy Warhol (1962), and Kite by Robert Rauschenberg — displayed alongside seminal works of Pop Art by Jim Dine, James Rosenquist, and Tom Wesselmann, as well as Italian contemporaries including Michelangelo Pistoletto and Mario Schifano
